Medical Laboratory is the important pillar in the health care delivery system. The accuracy in the Lab results directly reflects on the prognosis of the patients. Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory technology course inculcates the students to develop practical skills to work in Biochemistry, microbiology and Pathology laboratories. Students learn methods and techniques of lab procedures in college lab as well as, well equipped modern automatic computerized Lab also.

As vital members of the health care team, medical laboratory professionals play a critical role in collecting the information needed to give the best care to an ill or injured patient. The fact is that the practice of modern medicine would be impossible without the tests performed in the laboratory.

The students are well trained to handle sophisticated laboratory equipment, including cell counters, microscopes and automated analyzers. These devices are used to search for parasites, bacteria and other microorganisms. Medical laboratory technicians carry out less complicated procedures and tests than do medical laboratory technologists.

Medical laboratory technician or technologist (MLT) is a healthcare professional who performs chemical, hematological, immunologic, histopathological, cytopathological, microscopic and bacteriological diagnostic analyses on body fluids such as blood, urine, sputum, stool, cerebrospinal fluid, peritoneal fluid, pericardial fluid and synovial fluid as well as other specimen

Eligibility for Under Graduate AHS programmes

Candidates belonging to all categories for admission to the Allied Health Sciences should have passed the qualifying examinations after period of 12 years of study with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology with minimum 50% marks in each subjects (Academic / Vocational Stream).
